ForceFlex Protective Eyewear is Awarded New Product of the Year

MCR Safety received the 2010 New Product of the Year Award at the 2010 National Safety Council Congress and Expo for its ForceFlex protective eyewear.  This recognition was presented by Occupational Health & Safety which administers the New Product of the Year Award and honors the outstanding product development achievements of health and safety manufacturers whose products are considered to be particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve workplace safety.  MCR Safety’s ForceFlex was awarded the New Product of the Year in the protective eyewear category.

ForceFlex protective eyewear incorporates a patented, multi-injection molding of the lens with a flexible Thermo Plastic Urethane (TPU) frame.  Due to this construction, they greatly exceed the military MIL-PFR-31013 Standard for ballistic level impact resistance.  This achievement benefits consumers by providing unparalleled levels of protection.  The TPU material allows the frame to flex and fit individual faces from large to small.  The dual material temples combine Thermo Plastic Rubber (TPR) for comfort and polycarbonate for durability.  All ForceFlex styles meet military test regimen for high velocity impact protection and exceed ANSI Z87+ standard.  This stylish half-frame construction comes with a lifetime warranty.

In addition to being honored at the National Safety Council Congress & Expo, the winners will be featured on the Occupational Health & Safety Web site, www.ohsonline.com, and highlighted in the OH&S December 2010 issue.

Cotton and Latex Pricing

Over the past several weeks, there have been unprecedented price increases for many cotton and natural rubber (latex) products. Commodity prices for both of these materials are at record levels, and the expectation is that this will continue for the foreseeable future. Increased worldwide demand and historically tight supply are the primary drivers of this crisis. Severe flooding this year in Pakistan (cotton) and Thailand (rubber) – plus India’s decision earlier this year to restrict the exporting of cotton – have all contributed to this situation. There is a significant amount of information readily available regarding the soaring costs of cotton and latex and we have included some news links for your reference.  (Click on the headline above to read the entire article.)
